The Bell County Historical Society and Museum is looking for local art.
The museum is planning an exhibit of art work – paintings, drawings or sculpture – created by local high school students and students from other areas who have a connection to Bell County.
“We would like to create an exhibit of art works by students who have ties to Bell County,” museum Historian Tim Cornett said. “The students should submit up to ten examples of their work and at least one of the pieces should show an historical connection to the Cumberland Gap area. These could be paintings of early Middlesboro or Pineville or places in the rural areas of Bell County or sculptures of early pioneers,” Cornett continued.
Students should bring their art work to the museum by 4 p.m., Friday February 27,
The exhibit will be open to the public March 16, 2015. Students should also provide a brief biography of themselves as well as recent photograph of the themselves to be used in the exhibit.
The Bell County Historical is located at 207 North 20th Street in Middlesoro. Hours of operation at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
